These beautiful giant bunnies originated in the mid 16th century in Europe. Continental Giants are one of the oldest and largest rabbit breeds. They are related to the Flemish Giant and the Belgian Hare. Continentals are known most for their large ears and long bodies; differing from the Flemish Giants that are more well known for their bulk and weight. The longest rabbit on record (Darius from the UK) is a Continental Giant. (Darius shows up on all of our Conti's pedigrees). Continental Giants are recognized with the British Rabbit council, but not the American Rabbit Breeder's Association.
Conti's are well known for the docile easy-going temperaments which make them well suited for pets. They need lots of space to move around and exercise and do well in a large yard. They are also easy to litter train and many Continental Giant rabbits are beloved indoor pets.
